

I had a 1.5 lb chuck roast left over in my freezer and wanted to put it to good use, so what better way than making it into a French dip sandwich The French dip sandwich from Arby’s is 540 calories and has 50g carbs ... this recipe is another perfect example that with minimal effort you can make any of your favorite comfort foods fit into your nutrition goals without sacrificing any flavor!
Servings: 6 (1 serving = ½ pita)
Calories per serving: 382 cal
Protein per serving: 30 g
Carbs per serving: 25 g
Ingredients:
1.5 lb chuck roast
1 cup beef broth
1 onion (sliced)
2 cloves garlic (minced)
1 can tomato paste
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon Montreal steak seasoning
1 packet onion soup mix
3 whole wheat pita
3 slices low fat provolone cheese
Directions:
1. SLOW COOKER
Add chuck roast, broth, onions, garlic, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, steak seasoning, and onion soup mix to crock pot and cook on high for 5 hours, or on low for 7-8 hours.
INSTANT POT
Add chuck roast, broth, onions, garlic, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, steak seasoning, and onion soup mix to Instant Pot and cook on high pressure for 45 mins.
2. Remove been and onions from liquid, shred beef and, set aside. In a separate bowl, spoon out ½ cup liquid and mix with ¾ cup beef broth (this is for dipping!)
3. Fill ½ pita with beef, add ½ slice provolone, and bake in oven on 375 for 5 mins until cheese is melted. Serve with au jus for dipping and enjoy!
