Yesterday was my kitchen helper Lexi’s 4th birthday, so I made a cake for her I posted this on my personal Instagram story and received a lot of requests for the recipe (obviously there are other crazy dog parents like me) This cake is human-friendly too l, but it’s not quite as sweet as regular cake

⚠️ I would also like to say, for dog parents who have their dogs on grain-free diets (meaning no wheat, oats, rice, etc) please beware! There have been many links between grain-free diets and risk of heart disease in dogs

Ingredients:
1 cup all purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ cup peanut butter (divided)
½ cup pumpkin purée
1 egg
4 tablespoon vegetable oil
½ cup unsweetened applesauce
½ cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350. Mix together flour and baking soda in a small bowl. In a bigger bowl, whisk ¼ cup peanut butter, pumpkin, egg, oil, and apple sauce until evenly combined.
2. Slowly add flour mixture into wet-ingredient mixture, whisking well before adding more. When combined, spray cake pan with nonstick spray, and add cake mix to pan. Bake for 15-25 mins.
3. While cake is baking, mix ½ cup Greek yogurt and ¼ cup peanut butter in small bowl to make “icing.” When cake is done, remove from oven and allow to cool, spread evenly with icing, and serve to your furry friend
